The organic seal of La Botica Verde is a guarantee that our products have been grown with the highest possible production standards. In harmony with nature, without chemicals and genetically modified seeds, taking care of your health and the health of the planet.
What Does Organic Mean?
According to the standards of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) , organic production standards should omit the use of the following inputs that are not on the OMRI list:
- synthetic fertilizers
- Agrochemicals
- Use of sewage
- genetically modified products
- ionized irradiation
The soil on which it is grown must be free of prohibited substances for three years prior to harvest to ensure that the production is not contaminated.
In animals, organic production focuses on animals having a better quality of life and that their growth is not manipulated in any way. For this, animals must be grown:
- With access to outside spaces
- without growth hormones
- No antibiotics or other drugs
- no irradiation
- Without being fed products derived from animals
- With 100% organic concentrate
For beef production, the cows' diet must be at least 30% pastured during the main growing season and if fed concentrate, it must be 100% organic for the last 12 months.
In poultry production, birds must have access to grass all year round, 10m2 per bird all year round, 15% of the ground must be dusty for the chickens to bathe in, 20% of the perches must be elevated, and the perches must be leave a minimum of 15cm per bird.
