Interview - Botanic Care

1. How did Botanic Care start?

Botanic Care is a brand of natural products for skin care and health in general. We want to offer Guatemalans a range of 100% natural products of plant origin. We know that marketing can be misleading and that is why we want to teach consumers to consciously choose the products that work for them, and not get carried away by what is "fashionable".

2. What motivated you to start Botanic Care?

For a long time I began to make my own products because I couldn't find options on the market that worked 100% for me. I began to investigate which ingredients had the benefits that my skin needed and I discovered a world of options in nature that I couldn't stop sharing with other people. I decided to start this project to bring the consumer closer to nature and to use less and less harmful ingredients that only affect their health and the environment.

3. Why your focus on natural cosmetics?

The skin is the largest organ we have, and yet it is the organ we pay the least attention to. Just as we try to eat healthy, to exercise, to have positive thoughts, so we must also take care of our skin and nourish it with the best vitamins and minerals that come from the plant world.

4. How has this work been received in Guatemala?

We have had a very satisfactory response from our clients, but there is still a lot to do. People want to buy at the lowest possible price, and it is understandable, but unfortunately the products that are really natural have a meticulous process of selecting ingredients and their processes themselves are handmade, so the cost of production rises and therefore the sale price.

5. What have been your biggest challenges so far?

Teaching the Guatemalan market that not all "natural" products are 100% natural.

6. What have been your greatest achievements so far?

Create a community of women who believe in the brand and who have seen the benefits of using 100% natural products.

7. Where do you think the project is going in the future?

We would like to create a network of consumers who are aware of what they apply to their skin and the impact their decisions have on the environment. We would love to be able to be part of the personal care routine of as many men and women as possible who want to look for sustainable alternatives. We want people to associate Botanic Care with a Guatemalan brand that cares for Guatemalans by offering them the best quality, environmentally friendly and sustainable products.

8. What change would you like to see in Guatemala? Because?

That consumers investigate more before making a purchase, that they do not get carried away by advertising or the price of a product. We love that more and more people are aware of the purchases they make and that they demand the best possible quality.

9. What inspiring message would you leave people reading this interview?

That they support and believe in the national offer. There are many well-prepared Guatemalans offering quality products that have nothing to envy to international products. If as Guatemalans we support each other, we will grow as a country and we will strengthen each other. A saying we love is this: "The best teamwork comes from people working independently towards a common goal" (James Cash Penney). We believe that there is a market for everyone, as entrepreneurs we must support each other instead of discrediting ourselves. The best satisfaction we can have is to create a better Guatemala for the new generations.
